Description
The LM236-2.5, LM336-2.5, and LM336B-2.5
integrated circuits are precision 2.5-V shunt
regulator diodes. These reference circuits
operate as low-temperature-coefficient 2.5-V
Zener diodes with a 0.2-? dynamic impedance. A
third terminal provided on the circuit allows the
reference voltage and temperature coefficient to
be trimmed easily.
The series is useful as precision 2.5-V low-voltage references (VZ) for digital voltmeters, power supplies, or
operational-amplifier circuitry. The 2.5-V voltage reference makes it convenient to obtain a stable reference from
5-V logic supplies. Devices in this series operate as shunt regulators, and can be used as either positive or
negative voltage references.
The LM236-2.5 is characterized for operation from ?25?C to 85?C. The LM336-2.5 and LM336B-2.5 are
characterized for operation from 0?C to 70?C.
LM337H
LM337T
The LM137 and LM337-N are adjustable 3-terminal
negative voltage regulators capable of supplying?1.5 A or more currents over an output voltage range of ?1.25 V to ?37 V. It requires only two external resistors to set the output voltage and one output capacitor for frequency compensation. The circuit design has been optimized for excellent regulation and low thermal transients. Further, the LM137 and?LM337-N feature internal current limiting, thermal
shutdown and safe-area compensation, making it virtually blowout-proof against overloads. ?The LM137 and LM337-N are ideal complements to
the LM117 and LM317 adjustable positive regulators. The LM137 has a wider operating temperature range than the LM337-N and is also offered in military and?space qualified versions.
LM338T
The LM138 series of adjustable 3-terminal positive
voltage regulators is capable of supplying in excess
of 5 A over a 1.2-V to 32-V output range. They are
exceptionally easy to use and require only 2 resistors
to set the output voltage. Careful circuit design has
resulted in outstanding load and line regulation,
comparable to many commercial power supplies. The
LM138 family is supplied in a standard 3-lead
transistor package.
A unique feature of the LM138 family is timedependent current limiting. The current limit circuitry
allows peak currents of up to 12 A to be drawn from
the regulator for short periods of time. This allows the
LM138 to be used with heavy transient loads and
speeds start-up under full-load conditions. Under
sustained loading conditions, the current limit
decreases to a safe value protecting the regulator.
Also included on the chip are thermal overload
protection and safe area protection for the power
transistor. Overload protection remains functional
even if the adjustment (ADJ) pin is accidentally
disconnected.
Normally, no capacitors are needed unless the device
is situated more than 6 inches from the input filter
capacitors in which case an input bypass is needed.
An output capacitor can be added to improve
transient response, while bypassing the adjustment
pin increases the ripple rejection of the regulator.
Besides replacing fixed regulators or discrete
designs, the LM138 is useful in a wide variety of
other applications. Because the regulator is floating
and receives only the input-to-output differential
voltage, supplies of several hundred volts can be
regulated as long as the maximum input to output
differential is not exceeded; do not short-circuit output
to ground. The part numbers in the LM138 series
which have a K suffix are packaged in a standard
steel TO-CAN package, while those with a T suffix
are packaged in a TO-220 plastic package. The
LM138 is rated for TJ = ?55?C to 150?C, and the
LM338 is rated for TJ = 0?C to 125?C
LM339 Low Power Low Offset Voltage Quad Comparator IC DIP
The LM339? consists of four independent precision voltage comparators with an offset voltage specification as low as 2 mV max for all four comparators. These were designed specifically to operate from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages. Operation from split power supplies is also possible and the low power supply current drain is independent of the magnitude of the power supply voltage. These comparators also have a unique characteristic in that the input common-mode voltage range includes ground, even though operated from a single power supply voltage. Application areas include limit comparators, simple analog to digital converters; pulse, square wave and time delay generators; wide range VCO; MOS clock timers; multi vibrators and high voltage digital logic gates. When operated from both plus and minus power supplies, they will directly interface with MOS logic ? where the low power drain of the LM339 is a distinct advantage over standard comparators.
LM339N
The LMx39x and the LM2901x devices consist of four
independent voltage comparators that are designed
to operate from a single power supply over a wide
range of voltages. Operation from dual supplies also
is possible, as long as the difference between the two
supplies is 2 V to 36 V, and VCC is at least 1.5 V
more positive than the input common-mode voltage.
Current drain is independent of the supply voltage.
The outputs can be connected to other open-collector
outputs to achieve wired-AND relationships

LM340T-12
The LM340 and LM7805 Family monolithic 3-terminal
positive voltage regulators employ internal currentlimiting, thermal shutdown and safe-area
compensation, making them essentially indestructible.
If adequate heat sinking is provided, they can deliver
over 1.5-A output current. They are intended as fixed
voltage regulators in a wide range of applications
including local (on-card) regulation for elimination of
noise and distribution problems associated with
single-point regulation. In addition to use as fixed
voltage regulators, these devices can be used with
external components to obtain adjustable output
voltages and currents
