Description of TPS23754PWPR
The TPS23754PWPR device have an integrated powered device (PD) interface, isolated converter-specific current-mode DC-DC controller, and power-over-ethernet (PoE) capability. The IEEE 802.3at standard is supported by the PoE interface.
The input voltage ORing options supported by the TPS23754 and TPS23756 include highest voltage, external adapter preference, and PoE preference.
The designer can choose the power source that will bear the load under all circumstances thanks to these qualities.
In accordance with IEEE 802.3at, the PoE interface has the new extended hardware categorization required for compatibility with high-power midspan power source equipment (PSE). The PoE source’s power can be turned off forcibly by using the detecting signature pin.
With just one resistor, classification can be set to any of the defined categories. Two complementary gate drivers with customizable dead time are included in the DC-DC controller. This makes it easier to develop active-clamp forward converters or optimised gate drives for flyback topologies that are very efficient.
For single MOSFET topologies, the second gate driver may be disabled if preferred. The controller also has a 78% maximum duty cycle, bootstrap start-up source, current-mode compensation, and internal soft start.
An oscillator that is programmable and synchronizable facilitates the use of the controller to upgrade current power supply designs and enables design optimization for efficiency. The typical trade-offs in current-sense filter design are made simpler by precise programmable blanking with a default period.
While the TPS23756 device starts its converter at 9 volts, the TPS23754 device does so at 15 volts. In order to enhance pin spacing, the TPS23754-1 substitutes a no-connect for the PPD pin.
