Description of M25P40-VMN6TPB 

The M25P40 is a high-speed SPI-compatible bus that accesses a 4 Mbit (512 K 8) Serial Flash memory with sophisticated write protection measures. High performance instructions in the M25P40 enable clock frequencies of up to 75 MHz. (1) The Page Program instruction allows for the programming of the memory one to 256 bytes at a time. The memory is set up into 8 sectors, each of which has 256 pages.

There are 256 bytes on each page. As a result, the entire memory can be thought of as being made up of 2048 pages, or 524,288 bytes. Using the Bulk Erase command, the entire memory can be deleted, or the Sector Erase instruction can erase a single sector at a time.

A microcontroller’s SPI peripheral can operate in one of the two following modes to drive these devices:
1. CPHA = 0 & CPOL = 0.
2. CPOL = 1 & CPHA = 1
