The W25X40CL(4M-bit) Serial Flash memory are ideal for systems with limited space, pins, or power. The 25X series goes above and beyond standard Serial Flash devices in terms of versatility and performance. They’re great for storing audio, text, and data, as well as downloading code. The devices run on a single 2.3Vto 3.6V power supply, with active current as low as 1mA and power-down current as low as 1 A. All of the gadgets are available in compact versions.
The W25X40CLarrays are divided into 2048 programmable pages with a total of 256 bytes. At a time, up to 256 bytes can be programmed. The W25X40CL has a total of 128 erasable sectors, 16 erasable 32KB blocks, and 8 erasable 64KB blocks. The tiny 4KB sectors provide for more flexibility in data and criterion storage applications.
The W25X40CL features a high-performance dual output as well as Dual I/O SPI: Serial Clock, Chip Select, Serial Data DI(I/O0), DO (I/O1). When employing the Fast Read Dual Output instruction, SPI clock speeds up to 104MHz are available, giving comparable clock rates of 208MHz. These transfer rates are equivalent to 8-bit and 16-bit Parallel Flash memory transfer rates. Continuous Read Mode enables efficient memory access with as little as 16 ticks of instruction overhead to read a 24-bit address, enabling genuine XIP (execute in place) operation.
