The voltage regulator integrated circuit (IC) 7805 truly belongs to the 78xx series of voltage regulator ICs. A fixed linear voltage regulator, that is. The value of the fixed output voltage that this specific IC produces is represented by the xx included in the string “78xx.” It is a 5V DC controlled power supply for the 7805 IC. A provision for a heat sink is also included by this regulator IC. This voltage regulator’s threshold limit is 35V, and any input voltage less than or equal to that will result in a constant output of 5V from the IC.

7805 VOLTAGE REGULATOR Features:

Pin One Input
This pin’s job is to provide the input voltage. It should fall between 7 and 35 volts. To regulate it, we provide an unregulated voltage to this pin. The PIN operates at maximum efficiency with 7.2V input.

PIN Two-GROUND
To this pin, the earth is connected. This pin is neutral for both input and output (0V).

OUTPUT PIN 3
The regulated output is received on this pin. There will be 5V.

The MIC4576 is a series of easy-to-use fixed and adjustable BiCMOS step-down (buck) switch-mode voltage regulators. The 200 kHz MIC4576 duplicates the pinout and function of the 52 kHz LM2576.
